De Carb Ox is a calcium carbide based product. Technical carbide has high affinity for oxygen and sulphur. It is used as a highly efficient agent for deoxidization in secondary metallurgy applications.
Oxygen (dissolved oxygen) present as metal oxides in steel reacts with calcium carbide and produces carbon monoxide which is helpful to slag formation. The major reduction reaction takes place in the slag- metal emulsion.
100 - 150 kg of the material is to be added per ladle based on heat size and other metallurgical parameters.
● Strong reducing agent.
● Suitable for Deoxidation and Desulphurisation in secondary metallurgy.
● Enhanced metal purity due to efficient Deoxidation and Desulphurisation.
● Sulphur content is trace.
● Reduction of other slag forming materials’ consumption.
● Recovery of oxidized metals such as iron, manganese, chromium etc.
● Reduction of corrosive furnace slag contributes longer lining life.
