DeL 96M (Fluidized Lime Based DS Reagent)

Introduction

Fluidised lime is one of the important reagents used in injection metallurgy for external desulphurisation. It consists of 96% Fluidised lime and 4 % slag modifier for betterment of slag behaviour. It is a homogeneous blend of calcined lime and fluidizer designed in a way to achieve highest efficiency.

APPLICATION

To be used in Hot metal ladle at Hot Metal Desulphurisation Station. The treatment is mostly performed through pneumatic conveying system with dry N2 as a conveying media using dip-lance injection.

HOW IT WORKS

Fluidized Lime based DS Reagent reacts chemically with the 'S' in the hot metal directly and forms calcium sulphide. Calcium sulphide rises and captured in the top slag.
Reaction is as follows:
CaO + FeS(s) = CaS(s) + Feo
4% slag modifier helps in maintain the slag fluidity and better slag metal separation.

ADVANTAGE

● Del 96M helps to make a basic atmosphere which leads to effective 'S' removal.
● Slag modifier is added to reduce the viscosity of slag. Thus slag metal separation is better which leads to better raking, low iron loss and effective slag metal reaction.
● Grain size is in micron level, so high surface area increases the efficiency of the reagent.
● Cheap and abundant.
● Slag generated after treatment decomposes easily.

PACKAGING

The reagent is supplied to the steel plant in bulker with N2 gas inside. The reagents are unloaded by pneumatic means to the site storage silo.
